Frequently Asked Questions
What is the length and frequency of sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes and can be weekly or fortnightly. Generally research has shown that having weekly counselling sessions is linked to a better therapuetic outcome as it helps to develop the relationship between counsellor and client and provides continuity. I work in an open ended way which would mean I would not say in advance how many sessions you may need. Instead we would hold regular reviews every 6 weeks, which gives you the control over when you feel you want to end.
What age range do you work with?
I work with adults and young people age 11 and up and have experience working with a wide age range from 11 to 70. I specialise in working with young people and currently work with this age group both privately and at a secondary school in Cranleigh.
Do you offer telephone or online counselling?
I primarily offer face to face counselling from my practice in Old Woking or Weybridge. However I am able to offer online counselling via Zoom, and have successfully completed the course ‘How to do counselling online - a coronavirus primer’ created by the Open University in collaboration with the BACP.
Do you work with any insurance companies?
I am currently signed up with insurance companies AVIVA, BUPA, AXA, WPA and Healix and can take clients on through this. In order to do this you would need to inform your insurance company and then I would need an authorisation code to invoice them
How much are sessions and how are they paid?
Sessions are charged at £75. Concessions are available on request for those on low income/financial difficulty or trainee counsellors. Sessions are paid either by cash or bank transfer.
